BREAKING: 4Top Biafran Activists Finally Granted Bail In Abuja

The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to four pro-Biafra activists- Bright Chimezie, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi- who hitherto faced treasonable felony charge alongside the ‘missing’ leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu.

Former Gubernatorial Candidate of the United Progressive Party in Anambra State and ex-Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Chief Osita Chidoka who was conspicuously present at the proceedings is believwd to have played a major role in the bail.

Trial Justice Binta Nyako granted the defendants bail to the tune of N10million each with two sureties in like sum.

Justice Nyako directed that the money should be deposited in cash to the Chief Registrar of the Court, even as she ordered the defendants to surrender all their travelling documents and not travel without leave of the court.

Aside asking all the surties to swear an affidavit of means, the court barred all the defendants from attending any form of rally, press conference or granting interviews.

Justice Nyako who had earlier denied the defendants bail, said she reviewed her previous ruling, the nature of the charge as well as the prescribed punishment for offence the defendants allegedly committed.

Observing that the offence attracts a maximum of seven years upon conviction, the trial Justice noted that the defendants have already spent better part of the years in prison custody.

Besides, Justice Nyako said she took into cognizance, various affidavits that urged the court to release the defendants on health ground, likewise a high court ruling that previously gave bail to the 1st defendant, Chimezie.

Neverthless, the court held that the 1st defendant must report to the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State every two weeks.

While the 2nd and 4th defendants were ordered to report to the CP in Enugu, the 3rd defendant was directed to report to the CP in Anambra State every two weeks.

“Go home and attend to your health”, Justice Nyako joking told the defendants who could not contain their joy.

The case was subsequently adjourned till November 14 for trial.

The quartet are answering to a three-count amended charge bordering on treasonable felony.

It will be recalled that trial Justice Binta Nyako had on February 20, okayed separate trial for the four defendants, following the inability of both the prosecution and the defence lawyers to produce the IPOB leader whose whereabouts has remained unknown since September last year.

The court had on the day it granted bail to the embattled IPOB leader, Kanu, held that the defendants should remain at Kuje prison owing to “seriousness” of charges against them.

In the charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/383/2015, FG, alleged that the four defendants, alongside Kanu (now at large) and others at large, “on diverse dates in 2014 and 2015 in Nigeria and London, United Kingdom, did conspire amongst yourselves to broadcast on Radio Biafra monitored in Enugu and other areas within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, preparations being made by you and others at large, for states in the South-East and South-South zones and other communities in Kogi and Benue States to secede from the Federal Republic of Nigeria with a view to constituting same into a Republic of Biafra and you thereby committed an offence punishable under section 516 of the Criminal Code Act, Cap C77, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004”.

In count-two of the charge dated March 16, FG alleged that Chimezie and Kanu had between the months of March and April, 2015, imported into Nigeria and kept in Ubuluisiuzor in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, a Radio transmitter known as TRAM 50L, which they concealed in a container that was declared as used household items, contrary to section 47(2) (a) of the Criminal Code Act, Cap C77, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

FG alleged in count-three that Madubugwu had sometimes in the month of October 2015, had in his possession at his house in Ubuluisiuzor in Ihiala LGA of Anambra State, one Emerald Magnum Pump Action Gun with Serial Number TS 870-113-0046 and one Delta Magnum Pump Action Gun with Serial Number 501, as well as forty-one cartridges/ammunition without lawful authority or licence and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 27(b) (i) of the Firearms Act, Cap. F28, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.

OPERATION PYTHON DANCE IS ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO ANNIHILATE THE IGBO RACE-(press statement of the Movement of Biafrans in Nigeria, MOBIN)

The Movement of Biafrans in Nigeria MOBIN has watched with growing concern the gradual but deliberate move by security agencies, especially the Nigeria Army to intimidate and cow our people into submission.

The recent deployment of dangerous weapons of warfare, brutality and death, as well as announcement of the army that it has entered the South East to carry out what they termed Operation Python Dance 2 is a clear act of arrogance of the army against a people it swore to protect, the citizens of Nigeria. Warfare is carried out by a nation’s army outside its territories. Nigeria on the other hand, is poised to wage war against her own citizens.

The government wants to prove to South Eatsterners, Ndigbo, and indeed Biafrans that they are a conquered people, right under their control and command.

The culmination of these blatant show of power had reared its ugly head last week and yesterday, when the Army tried to show the people of the ever peaceful Umuahia, Abia State capital that they have no right to move as free citizens.

While the incident of last week was an attack on the freedom of movement against our people, yesterday’s move, which Nnamdi Kanu was quoted to have said was aimed at arresting him by the Army, was a clear attempt to gag the voice of Biafrans against marginalization.

MOBIN by this statement is calling on security agencies to leave Ndigbo and all Biafrans alone. It’s on record that our people are the most peaceful agitators in this country and have continually indicated that civil disobedience can be achieved without use of arms.

The Army had claimed they will begin their Operation Python Dance on September 15. What then are they doing in Afaraukwu Ibeku on the 10th, five days before the day they are supposed to begin? Something surely is very fishy here. What is the essence of the show of force the army is threatening our people with?

This infiltration of our cities, towns and villages with soldiers and weapons of death is unnecessary, and a flagrant abuse of our rights and sensibilities as a free people, and should be removed with immediate effect.

The Federal Government of Nigeria and her security are well aware of the incessant killing of Biafrans in the South East and South south by Fulani cattle rearers. They are aware of the continual death threats against our people in different northern states, some of which have been carried out in the past. They are also aware of the war being waged against the country by Boko Haram in the north.

We at MOBIN believe that it’s those who threaten the integrity of the country that should be targeted by the army, not men and women of peace and goodwill, which Biafrans are.

The attempt to arrest Nnamdi Kanu, and the recent shooting three of our people to aggravate them is a continuation of the unprovoked war against Ndi Igbo, which culminated in the killing of over 3000 youths in Onitsha, Asaba, Port Harcourt and Aba two years ago.

Be aware that it’s a similar kind of provocation, which led to the killing of Mohammed Yusuf that aggravated into what is now known as Boko Haram, which has killed over 2.3 million people and sacked over ten thousand people from their homes. This is a monster that could have been avoided in North East of Nigeria. The deaths of soldiers and innocent citizens who continually get killed by Boko Haram could have been avoided if some overzealous security agencies hadn’t decided to take laws into their hands.

The Nigerian state should leave our people alone. The Army should leave our territory. We are an aggrieved people and our agitations should be addressed. The great mistake you are making against the Nigerians state is to ignore us and our agitations.

Instead of listening to proffer a solution, you are there trying to intimidate us. Be aware that the whole world is watching. The United Nations, African Union, ECOWAS, European Union, all are watching and taking notes of the second attempt by the army to annihilate our people.

Leave us alone, and allow us forge on to Biafra, since you gave refused to allow Nigeria grow!

Signed,

Rita Eberechukwu Anigbogu,

Director General, MOBIN.

Kanu heading for a great downfall, Biafra to play major role in Anambra guber-Prophet Emmanuel Chukwudi

Controversial Man of God and General Overseer of King of Kings Deliverance Ministries, (KKDM), Prophet Emmanuel Chukwudi who had earlier prophesied how Nnamdi Kanu will be released from prison has spoken out against the leader of the Biafran struggle, stating that his(Kanu) arrogance has gone into his head.
Chukwudi, of KKDM, Gbonum Ulepa Ntezi, Ebonyi State also stated that Biafra will pay a major role in the coming Anambra gubernatorial elections.
Speaking to our reporter on the phone, the prophet said that he was worried that Nnamdi Kanu has denied the Lord who delivered him from the jaws of death at Kuje prisons, Abuja too quickly and lost all sense of humility.
“God is very angry with him. He is arrogant and is proud. He is headed for downfall. In the spiritual realm, he is fallen already. God is telling him to come and have Biafra, the young man thinks he will only go to White House or Jerusalem and London to get Biafra. Am seeing a very mighty fall, a very shameful fall facing Nnamdi Kanu. God is revealing to me that there is no atom of humility in him.
When asked how it would happen, he replied “I don’t know how it will happen. When God says someone will fall, I don’t know how it will happen.
“When God told me Buhari will have problem, I spoke and no one paid attention, today you are seeing what is happening. God says there is a great calamity, a mayhem coming his way.
On whether God will accept Kanu if he comes back, Chukwudi said “God will always receive you if you turn around and change. Remember the story of the prodigal son. God will accept him if he comes back and changes. But he should beware. I see great darkness, I see great mayhem across his path, unless he changes. But time is running out.
Also speaking about the coming Anambra polls, the prophet, popularly known as ‘Onye Ru Uka Ofu Nanya'(Doubters will see with their eyes) said that Kanu’s negative evangelism against the elections have already met the rock. The Lord God who, I serve has revealed to me the whole world, and he is the one revealing to me right now that the elections will be a great success, contrary to fears that Kanu will be able to stop it. I know that as usual, they will doubt.
“Anambra elections have been held and concluded in the spiritual realm. Kanu does not pay attention to God anymore, he prefers to work with carnal thoughts. With such carnal thoughts, he is going to fall soon. He has no power over the elections at all. The Supreme has spoken.
“Let me also state here that the Lord has shown me the winner of the Anambra elections, but he says I should hold my peace for now. The only thing I can say for now is that, if you are serious about Anambra elections and you are ignoring those Biafrans who say they are heading to Anambra Government House with the Biafran flag, then you are just going there to waste your time.

Ohaneze Ndigbo Malaysia condemn Onitsha massacre, call for release of Kanu-PRESS STATEMENT

The Ohaneze Ndigbo, Malaysia was dismayed by the recent news coming from Nigeria that the Nigeria Security had killed over 50 Igbo youths, who were members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) during the recent concluded Biafra remembrance day.

We therefore frown at the development, whereby the people that are entrusted to protect the sanctity of lives and properties of the citizens shall be the same people killing, maiming and destroying it.The invasion of the Church and subsequent killing of protestants in the sanctuary of God is sacrilegious and outrageous

We the members of the apex Igbo Organization in Malaysia therefore, strongly condemn in clear language the killing of unarmed civilians by the members of Nigeria armed forces and the outright use of force to suppress demonstrators viewpoint & opinion as crude and barbaric; and does not portray the image of the country as one who is under the threshold of democracy.

We therefore request that both Anambra State and Federal governments, should as matter of necessity institute a judicial panel of inquiry into this incidence and ensure that security men that took part in this extra judicial killings were all brought to book. The governments should also try as much as possible to reach out to the families of the victims of this dastardly act to console them. The governments should also take adequate care of the cost of treatment of those that are still in hospital.

We want to reinstate our earlier declaration, as was published on Vanguard Newspaper of 25th December 2015 that the government of Nigeria should release Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who have been in detention over Seven months and all other detained pro Biafra agitators so as to nip in the bud this endless demonstration that have left so many disenchanted over the Nigeria project.

The government should take a cue from the advanced democracies, particularly from both Spanish and United Kingdom governments who under similar secessionist threats, rather than been confrontational have embraced dialogue and constitutional reforms as means of addressing the development.

Finally, we commiserate with the families that lost their loved ones and those that were wounded during this gruesome massacre that took place at the market city of Onitsha. To the families that lost their love ones, its our prayer that God will console you at this hour of your distress and give you the fortitude to bear the lost. And to those who were wounded, we wish you speed recovery.

Singleton Nnaemeka

BIAFRA HEROES DAY: Several killed as soldiers open fire in Catholic Church in Onitsha

Several people have been killed and over 20 injured this morning as men of the Nigerian army shot into a Catholic Church at Nkpor Junction, Onitsha, South East Nigeria.

Jungle Journalist learnt that the incident, which occurred at about 6 am this morning, is likely to be connected to today’s rally to commemorate people kiled during the Biafra War between 1966 and 1970.

However, witnesses say they do not know why the attack took place since worshippers were still in the church for morning mass.

30th of May is marked the world over by Biafrans (South East/South South Nigeria) as Biafra National Holiday to pay tribute to over 3.5 million Biafrans that died during Nigeria Civil War.

The day is celebrated all over the world as Heroes Day.

According to reports, there are rallies currently going on across the major cities of the South East, while in the major countries of the world, the rallies are also heating up.

Since last night, people of the former Biafra region who believe in the struggle for an independent state of Biafra have been posting millions of photos, videos and texts on the social media walls to reflect the celebration.

The celebration this year, coincides with this year’s Democracy Day celebration in Nigeria, which is observing a public holiday today, Monday 30, since yesterday, the main Democracy Day is a Sunday.

Every year, colourful processions are held by these peoples, calling on the Nigerian government to release it’s members in detention, and allow it’s citizens run an independent government of self determination.

Emmanuel Yahgozie, who spoke with Jungle Journalist from London two days ago said the theme for this year is the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who has been held by Nigeria’s government since last year.

More so, Kanu told the regional court that his legs and hands were chained by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, while he was in their detention facility, a treatment he said “amounts to the worst dehumanisation, degrading treatment and torture.” Cited as defendants in the suit marked ECW/CCJ/APP/06/16, which Kanu filed through his lawyer Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, are the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, and the Director General, Department of State Services, DSS.

We’ll shut down all oil exploration in Niger Delta, says Egbesu fraternity militants

A new militant organisation, Egbesu Mightier Fraternity, yesterday, gave the Federal Government a two-week ultimatum to release unconditionally, the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and Director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu and former National Security adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki.

In a statement by its spokesman Captain Agbaka Doctor, entitled, ‘Release Nnamdi Kanu and Colonel Sambo Dasuki Now or else…. Operation Shut Down Oil and Gas in Niger Delta Region Will Start, and made available to Vanguard, the group said that after the expiration of their ultimatum, the Federal Government will regret not heeding their directive.
“We, the Egbesu Mightier Fraternity is warning the Federal Government of Nigeria to release the IPOB leader and the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd) in the next two weeks unconditionally or they will regret not listening to us.
“The Federal Government is also directed to ask the military to leave Gbaramatu Kingdom within the same period or else we are going to shut down every oil and gas activity in the region. Tompolo is not the problem of Nigeria or behind the problem in Niger Delta but misrule and high handedness of the Federal Government and its officials.
“Tompolo is not responsible for the bombing of oil and gas pipelines in the region. Egbesu Mightier Fraternity is part of the bombings. We are responsible. Niger Delta Avengers is a branch of the struggle and nobody should take us for granted or we will do more,” they said.
They wondered what Chief Government Ekpomupolo, alias Tompolo did that he is being harassed and intimidated by agents of Federal Government, and warned that the intimidation and harassment should stop immediately.

Warri and Kaduna refineries will be shut down and all cities that depends on the gas line for power will all be in total darkness like the creeks of the Niger Delta”

Spokesperson for the organisation,  Col. Mudoch Agbinibo said that the group is making spirited efforts geared at frustrating the efforts of the Federal Government, and will continue its bombing operations, until it’s objectives are met.

The revelation, which was contained in a press release on its website, said that it will cripple all pipelines supplying petroleum products across the country to power electricity terminals, and render the country into darkeness; ‘Zero Chevron Operations’, is meant to destroy NNPC crude and gas pipelines feeding the Warri and Kaduna refineries respectively, including the gas line feeding the Lagos and Abuja electricity power supply.

“With this development the Warri and Kaduna refineries will be shut down and all cities that depends on the gas line for power will all be in total darkness like the creeks of the Niger Delta”.

It listed it’s demands as follows: .     1. Immediate implementation of the report of the 2014 National Conference. Otherwise, this country will break-up forcefully.
2.     President Buhari, the DS SSS and Timipre Sylva should apologize to the people of the Niger Delta region and family of Late Chief DSP Alamieyesegha for killing him with intimidation and harassment because of his party affiliation.

6.     The Ogoniland and indeed ll oil polluted lands in the Niger Delta must be cleaned up and compensation be paid to all oil producing communities.
7.     Mr Nnamdi Kanu, the Leader of IPOB must be released unconditionally as the court said.
8.     The Niger Delta Amnesty programme must be well funded and let it continue to run effectively.
9.     All APC members that are indicted in any corruption related cases should be made to face trial like the PDP members. Otherwise Buhari should shamefully forget about this nonsense anti-corruption fight.
10.  All oil multi-nationals and foreign investors should observe this ultimatum, as their business interest in the country must be first target.

The militant group also threatened that, if the international oil companies and FG fail to meet their demands, they would move to the next option in their struggle, which will be to bomb  international oil companies: “all oil facilities including their offshore platforms- Bonga Fpso, EA Field and their tank farms such as Bonny tank farm, Escravos tank farm and Forcados tank farm will be bombed”.

BREAKING NEWS: Fears that Nnamdi Kanu is poisoned spreads as IPOB leader is found unconscious in his cell

The wife of detained pro-Biafran leader Nnamdi Kanu has told IBTimes UK she is very concerned after reports alleged that Nigeria’s secret police invaded her husband’s prison cell. Websites and social media accounts affiliated with the movement described how members of the Department of State Services (DSS) invaded Kanu’s cell in Kuje prison, in the capital Abuja, on 12 April.

Reports claimed the DSS “knocked out and forced unconscious” Kanu, who was unaware of what happened to him. The Biafra Herald, reporting on the allegations, sparked rumours Kanu might have been poisoned. Following the claims, Kanu’s wife, Uchechi Okwu-Kanu, told IBTimes UK: “My husband’s defence counsel confirmed it to me. And to be honest, I am highly concerned about the increasing desperation of [President Muhammadu Buhari] and his henchmen.”

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, one of the lawyers representing Kanu, told IBTimes UK: “As of now, this is the situation: Two days ago some personnel invaded the cell he [Kanu] is staying in. We are concerned. I am meeting my client to understand what happened.”

The DSS was not immediately available for a comment on the allegations.

Kanu, director of Radio Biafra and head of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was arrested in Lagos in October 2015 on conspiracy and terrorism charges, which were later dropped. He is now standing trial on six counts of treasonable felony charges.

During a December 2015 presidential media chat, Buhari said Kanu would not be released amid fears he could jump bail and flee to the UK, as he holds both a British and a Nigerian passport.

Pro-Biafrans demand the independence of Biafran territories forcibly annexed to Nigeria during British colonisation, which ended in 1960. A Biafran Republic was established in 1967 and re-annexed to Nigeria in 1970, following a civil war that claimed between one and three million lives.

The Nigerian government has always maintained that Nigeria’s unity is a priority for the country and that although peaceful pro-Biafran protests are welcome, demanding the breakaway of the Biafran territories is against the constitution.
