2023: Southeast Presidency Is Non-negotiable, Says NUF Boss, Mba

The Chairman, BOT of Ndigbo United Forum (NUF) Chief Chinedu Mba has reiterated the call for non-negotiability of Nigerian President of Southeast extraction come 2023.

He made the call in Abuja during a strategic meeting he held with a cross section of Northern and Southwest leaders.

Chief Mba who traced the story of Igbo struggle for proper and practical reintegration since after the civil war that produced No Victor, No Vanquish slogan that has not really been activated noted that the Igbos of Southeast have not felt the reign of power democratically especially with the latest 1999-2019 democratic experience and experiment.

He stated that the meeting was one of the steps being taken to build stronger and enduring bridges with a view to letting the rest of Nigeria see reasons and strongly identify with the political desire of Southeast come 2023.

According to Mba , the presidential election in 2023 should be made to reflect the candidacy of 2019 whereby the two major political parties fielded only Northerners and appreciated the leaders across North and South that has openly spoken in support of the Southeast project of Nigerian President of Southeast extraction noting that with the growing support, the project was achievable and deliverable.

Chief Mbah further advised the political parties to do all within their powers and structure to ensure that their flag bearers are Igbos of Southeast, stressing that anything short of that won’t be acceptable.

On fear of Igbo cohesion and possible emergence of multiple candidates for presidency, he said it’s the best and a sign of seriousness as only one candidate each will be produced by political parties.

He asserted that Igbos will not be the first to have many candidates as “Chief Olu Falae, Chief Obasanjo, Chief Gani Fawehnmi, Chief Bola Ige contested among themselves. Furthermore, President Buhari, Alhaji Atiku, Mr Ndanusa etc also contested amongst themselves”.

With regards to the gale of defections, the Chairman of BOT unequivocally submitted that NUF is unperturbed about who’s jumping ship, who just jumped and those waiting to jump in veiled reference to the recent defection of Ebonyi State Governor, Engr Dave Umahi from PDP to APC.

“The interest of Ndigbo which NUF represent as a sociopolitical organization is to work with and partner with political parties to see to the emergence of Ndigbo as their candidates”.

He disabused the notion that Igbos lack deep political assimilation and cohesion and challenged Nigerians and political parties to throw the bones to the dog and watch how it would do justice to the bones.

Chief Mba warned that no Igbo man or woman should ever and even consider position of Vice-president as it’s not part of the deal in any form and cautioned about the dire consequences of such move “because such fellow will be treated as saboteur and will never have a landing right or a place called home in Igboland”.

“All efforts and energy are geared towards Presidency and not Vice-presidency because NUF will mobilize Igbo Youths against such sacrilegious act of subversion”.

Chief Mba assured at the meeting that NUF and other organizations will mobilize Igbos during registration exercise with a view to massively turning out to vote during elections and also urged political and opinion leaders to intensify consultations in this respect.

Responding on behalf of the stakeholders, Alhaji Mustapha Umar advised Igbos to put out their best for the contest, educate her people against voting apathy and carry other sections of the country along.

He pledged the support of the groups for Nigerian President of Igbo extraction come 2023 and urged Nigerians especially the political class to support Igbo President Project in the interest of justice, equity and fairness.

Governor Wike gave the assurance during a meeting with South-East Governors, the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo and the Igbo community in the state at Government House, Port Harcourt on Sunday.

The governor said in the wake of the Oyigbo crisis, people peddled the rumour that he is chasing Igbos out of Rivers State which is not true because the state has an enduring relationship with the Igbos.

“Tell your people, Rivers people will continue to live together with Igbos. Don’t allow your sons to tell you lies. Igbos are innovative and hardworking. There can’t be Nigeria without Igbos. Nobody should take them for granted. But that doesn’t mean you must allow criminals to spoil your name.

“If I hate Igbos, I won’t appoint your son into my state cabinet two times. But you have to obey rules. Don’t allow criminals to dictate to you”.

The Chairman of the South East Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has warned Igbos to be weary of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) because the outlawed group is trying to instigate another civil war.

He said they were in Rivers State to ascertain the veracity of the news circulating in the social media over alleged killing of Igbo people living in the State. According to him, their findings has proved otherwise.

Umahi after listening to Governor Wike’s narration of the atrocious activities of IPOB in Oyigbo that culminated in the imposition of curfew in the entire Local Government, warned Igbos to be wary of IPOB as the group was bent on instigating another civil war that will result in the murder of Igbo people.

Rumour that I ordered killing of Igbos at Obigbo politically motivated – Nyesom Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has described the allegation that he ordered the Nigerian Army to kill Igbos in Oyigbo Local Government Area, as a politically motivated falsehood.

He maintained that curfew was imposed in Oyigbo to restore calm after members of proscribed Indigenous Peoples Organisations of Biafra (IPOB) killed 6 soldiers, 4 policemen and destroyed all police stations and court buildings there.

Governor Wike gave the explanation on a live television programme in Port Harcourt on Monday.

He said the narrative that Igbos were being killed by the military is intended to shift attention from the despicable activities of IPOB in Oyigbo, which is a boundary area adjoining Abia State.

“I know that this is not the first time, IPOB has used Oyigbo as launching ground. The security agencies are aware. IPOB added a new dimension this time. They killed 6 Army Officers and burnt one. They killed four Police Officers. They destroyed all the Police Stations and Court Buildings. What offense did we commit as a state?

“I imposed curfew to restore calm. I proscribed IPOB activities anywhere in the state. Don’t forget that the Federal Government had declared them a terrorist group. It is not the entire Igbos that believes in IPOB activities.

“So, it’s not true that I order the military to kill Igbos in Oyigbo. When did I become a friend to the military? So what about the Igbos living elsewhere in the state are they also being killed?”

He further said: “I have no relationship with the Army or the Police, I do not command them. They change Commissioner of Police every time. How will I begin to direct the Army that I do not give instruction”?

The Governor bemoaned IPOB’s effrontery to rename a local government in the State and hoist its flag in a public school in Komkom Town.

“I will not fold my arms and watch criminals destroy my state, if those few criminals are Igbos then they should know that I will not allow them. They made attempt to rename a local government in my state. That alone is a signal. I will not agree to that. I know who is doing all these; who has told them to rise, protest against Wike.”

The Governor stated that the State government has no regret against its stance on IPOB, already designated as a terrorist organisation by the Federal Government. According to him, even the South-East Governors have never supported IPOB and wondered why a Governor from the Niger Delta should tolerate the group.

He revealed that security agencies during their search of some residents in Oyigbo, saw shrines with IPOB flags and Nnamdi Kanu’s picture. He maintained that if IPOB is allowed to operate from Oyigbo, they will soon overrun the State.

The Governor said the government has commenced moves to replace all the property destroyed by the group during the protest, regretting that the damage have left huge financial burden on the state. In addition, he said the State has decided to compensate each family of the killed security personnel with 20 million Naira to cater to for the welfare of the bereaved widows and their children.

He further said that the EndSARS protest and its aftermath would have been averted if the Federal Government had not dismissed the alarmed he earlier raised on the activities of SARS to mere politics.

“These loses of the aftermath of the protest are unfortunate. Recall that we started the cry against operations of SARS. We asked for reform. But they politicised the issue because they use it to kill and intimidate us.

“Here, the minister always used SARS to cause mayhem under the leadership of Akin Fakorede. We suffered a great deal. At a time, the entire National Assembly Election was cancelled. But we put faith in God who owns the state. We triumphed eventually”, he said.

Don’t engage in activities that could lead to killing of our people, MASSOB cautions Ndi Igbo

The leadership of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) under Comrade Uchenna Madu have advised Ndi Igbo not to engage in any destructive demonstrations or activities that will endanger the lives of citizens in the hands of Hausa Fulani military force led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

MASSOB said the pathological and unrepentant hatred against Igbos in particular, and Christians in general by the president can never be measured.

It said in a Press Release sighed by Comrade Edeson Samuel its National Director of Information;
“MASSOB as the mother that gave birth to all other Pro Biafra organizations advised all pro Biafra agitators irrespective of their group to desist from actions that will lead to avoidable death and shedding of innocent Biafran blood. Demonstrations and expression of our inalienable rights are constitutional and legal but it must be in the confinement of the principals of non violence.

“We shall never engage in activities or actions that will give fertile ground for the soldiers of our oppressors to commit massacre on our people

“The three weeks old peaceful Nigerian Youths protests have been hijacked by sponsored hoodlums who derive joy in looting, maiming and destruction of public and private properties of Ndigbo. MASSOB warned Ndigbo not to exhibit tribalism in the activities of Nigeria Youths protests. Our enemies are looking for an opportunity to reduce the population of Ndigbo through express shooting, we should not give our enemies mindless opportunities to maim our people. There is enough agony in our land, our people are still mourning the unfortunate loss of lives and properties of Ndigbo in the last week carnage.

“MASSOB advises that every pro Biafra demonstration or attachments of pro Biafra agitators to the Nigerian youths protests shall pause because Inspector General of police has ordered his murderous men to shoot at sight any group of protesters found on the street protesting irrespective of what that group stand foř. That is why they are shooting sporadically, killing innocent citizens.

“Our enemies have laid siege and ambushes against Ndigbo throughout Biafra land. We are not cowards, we are not jittery, we are applying wisdom that will save the lives of our people. The people of Biafra should go about their businesses and engage themselves in meaningful activities that will promote the spirit of Biafranism”, it said.

Vote Buhari at your own peril, Kalu warns Ndigbo

The Director General of Atikulated Agenda 2019, Chief Emeka Kalu has warned that the greatest mistake Ndi Igbo will make in the coming elections will be to give their votes to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Kalu was reacting to an alleged request of some Gubernatorial aspirants from Imo State who asked Igbos in the diaspora to vote for Buhari earlier this week in the United States.

In a Press Statement that emanated from the leadership of the organization, Kalu wondered why anyone in his right mind will recommend Buhari for a second term, especially if the person is Igbo.

He said; “It has become necessary to speak to my Igbo brothers and sisters regarding the coming elections. I understand that some people are going about instigating Ndi Igbo to vote for Buhari in 2019. Although our people cannot be convinced to associate with the enemy, let me also warn that the coming evil from his government will be greater than the former. Rejecting him in 2015 was the best decision we made and we must stand our ground. Why will anyone in his right mind even consider Buhari for second term? If you didn’t see the evils against Ndi Igbo from his government, can’t you also hear other people lamenting?

“Ndi Igbo must reject Buhari and ensure their votes go to a better leader who will wipe away our tears and make sure that our lands are developed, our voices are heard and killing of our sons are ended permanently. Voting for Buhari will be a monumental mistake that will cost us all we have. It’s a mistake we must never make.

“The overwhelming partiality of the government against us is overwhelming. We must rise up and ensure that it stops by voting for a better party, a better candidate”, he advised.
