Enugu State Continuity and Equity Movement (ESCEM) suspends its State Coordinator, Secretary

The Enugu State Continuity and Equity Movement (ESCEM)has risen from an emergency meeting to announce the immediate suspension of its State Coordinator and Secretary, in the persons of Hon. Samuel Okonu and Chief Hon. Ifeanyi Nwozor respectively.

According to a communiqué issued at the end of the State Executive Committee meeting (comprising of state excos and local government coordinators) on Saturday, 20th February 2021, SEC observed that the duo were inefficient in the discharge of their duties.

The two executives were also mandated to hand over ESCEM property in their possession within 24hours, while Hon. Chukwuebuka Aneke from Uzo-Uwani LGA was appointed acting state coordinator.

The State Publicity Secretary, Comr. Onyendozi E. Onwe told our reporter that ESCEM also empowered the state assistant secretary, Hon. Emma Mba to take over as the state secretary, even as it commended the coordinators of Nkanu West, Nkanu East, Enugu East, Enugu North, Uzo-Uwani, Awgu, Eziagu, Udenu, Isi-uzo, and Nsukka for their efforts in propagating the mission and vision of ESCEM to their respective councils.

The communique further advised members of ESCEM and the general public to discontinue any communication or transaction with the suspended officers in the name of ESCEM.

Enugu Group, ESCEM holds inaugural meeting, charges members on due process

Members of the Enugu based Socio-political pressure group, Enugu State Continuity and Equity Movement (ESCEM), has been advised to be ambassadors of due process, justice and fairness.

Speaking during the inaugural meeting of the group held in Enugu on Thursday 26th November 2020, the Coordinator, Hon. Samuel Okonu enjoined members to play a pivotal role in engaging the citizens to actively participate in the political process of electing men and women of integrity and sound moral principles.

He further elicited the core values of the group which according to him is anchored on justice, fairness, equity, good governance, democratic ideals, transparency, accountability and corrupt free society.

He advised members to build confidence, display courage, integrity, fairness and sagacity as the group strives to play it role as societal watch dog

Present at the inaugural meeting were the secretary Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Nwozor, Enugu West zonal coordinator Hon. Ugochukwu Akpa, Director of Contact and Mobilization Hon. Edeh Arinze, Director of Strategies Comr. Alex Ogbodo. Others are Welfare Officer Lady Onuchukwu Charity, Publicity Secretary Comr. Onyendozi E. Onwe, and Hon. Obinna Ugwu Ex-officio iv, Ex-officio iii Hon. Lawrence Onuora, among other members

Highpoint of the inaugural meeting was the issuance of membership forms to members with a mandate to take message of ESCEM to their various local governments and wards through the establishment of local government and ward structures.
