Reports reaching Jungle Journalist reveal that there was a bomb blast im Onitsha on Tuesday night.

According to sources, the bomb was detonated at a local restaurant in Kara area of Ogbaru, a town close to Onitsha in Anambra State, May 2, 2016 at about 8pm.

Eyewitnesses confirmed the blast, and said that the bomber is a middle-aged man believed to be from Northern Nigeria who pretended to be a traveller who needed a restaurant where he could “eat for N150”.

“The bomber is a man who came to the area, mostly populated by Northerners, and asked for a restaurant to eat for N150. He was directed to the eatery where he dropped his bag and asked for food. He ate a few spoons of the food and left the place,” the eyewitness said.

“Unknown to the people, he left behind a bomb in his bag which was later detonated about 5 minutes after the mystery man left, and injured seven people including a woman identified as Chioma.”

Seven people were reportedly injured in the blast. The victims were taken to a private hospital, Chioma Hospital.

According to our source, three of the victims who were critically injured were transferred to St. Charles Borromeo Hospital in Onitsha.

“The bomber spoke with a northern accrnt, he looked haggard, like a traveller. Nobody suspected he had evil intentions,” another eye-witness. “I can’t believe Boko Haram has come to Anambra. This is terrible.

Another witness said the bomb must have been a petrol bomb.

Kara is a commercial area where traders from the North sell their food stuff, chicken, and rams and other goods.

Commercial sex workers also operate from the area which shares a perimeter fence with SS Peters Catholic Church, Nkutaku.

Security agencies had already visited the scene and cordoned off the crime scene when Jungle Journalist arrived the scene.

Fulani herdsmen: UPP describes action as barbaric, wicked, outrageous, threat to national security

The United Progressive Party (UPP) has condemned the killing of innocent Nigerians across the country, particularly the recent massacre of the people of Ukpabi Nimbo community in Enugu State by Fulani herdsmen.

Describing the act as barbaric, wicked, outrageous and sadism of the worst order, UPP said it’s high time the unprovoked slaughter of innocent Nigerians by rampaging Fulani herdsmen armed with sophisticated weapons is stopped.

The party, in a press statement signed by Chief Ogbuehi Dike, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, urged security agents to fish out the perpetrators of the crime and bring them to book, and serve as a deterrent to others.

UPP accused the security of handling herdsmen ‘attacks with kidss gloves which spurred the impunity with which they massacre fellow compatriots in the North, which has now been extended to the South’.

“This detestable onslaught by Fulani herdsmen is a threat to national security and unity. The Federal Government is obliged to protect lives and property of the citizenry as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) which states that, “the security and welfare of the people is the primary purpose of government”.

UPP demands a stop to this madness and urges security agents to sit up and carry out their constitutional duties diligently without fear or favour.

“The Federal Government should take immediate action to rehabilitate and rebuild the communities destroyed by these heartless Fulani herdsmen and ensure there is no recurrence of this man’s inhumanity to man”, it stated.

How Edo Speaker was sacked by APC, PDP lawmakers

*he is violently greedy, has 6 cases with EFCC-new speaker
*300 thugs harass people with gunshots, beat up journalists

There was pandemonium at the Edo State House of Assembly Tuesday when thugs numbering about 300 invaded the hallowed chambers, shooting sporadically and in the process injuring 6 persons.

Trouble started when Hon. Folly Ogedegbe, the majority leader moved the motion for impeachment of the speaker, Hon. Victor Edoror and the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Bright Osayande.

The motion, which was seconded by Hon. Gani Audu representing Etsako West 1 reads in parts, “We the underlisted and undersigned honourable members representing the various constituencies in the Edo State House of Assembly have on this day 3rd of May 2016 have resolved to impeach our speaker, Hon. Chief Victor Edoror Tiger and the Deputy Speaker Hon. Osayande for acts of gross misconduct.

Speaker ex-tempore, Hon. Patrick Iluobe was appointed to preside the business of the day where the new speaker, Hon. Mrs. Elizabeth Ativie representing Uhuwode was appointed and Dr. Joseph Okonoboh, representing Igueben was appointed as Deputy Speaker.
Immediately the new speaker was sworn in, the impeached speaker and his deputy walked into the chamber in company of the thugs shooting sporadically to scare people out of the chambers, in the process a lot of people sustained gunshot wounds.

Friday Otabo,Edo State correspondent to Nation newspapers was severally assaulted at the office of the impeached speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Mr Victor Edoror by some thugs loyal to him after interview session with news men in his office.

Mr Otabor, who recently shaved his hairs as part of tradition of Benin men to mourn the transited Oba, received some resounding slaps from the thugs. Meanwhile, venue of the Assembly, as well as Ring Road area was tense as it was characterised with sporadic gunshots, exchange of blows and tear-gas.

Though still claiming to be a Speaker, with only eight members whom he presided over, the impeached speaker who looked traumatized adjourned sitting till tomorrow.

However, Jungle Journalist™ gathered revealed that the new leaders and faction led by the new Speaker, Mrs Elizabeth Ativie had been received and welcomed by the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole

Addressing journalists immediately after the fracas, the new speaker Hon. Mrs. Ativie said the members can no longer tolerate the greedy nature of the speaker.

She said Edoror has up to six different financial cases with the EFCC and the members cannot continue to allow such indecent person to lead the House.

She therefore said that a five member committee headed by Kabiru Adjoto representing Akoko-Edo 1 will investigate the financial recklessness of the impeached speaker from June 2015 till May 3rd.

She said if found wanting at the end of the three months when the committee will submit their report, he will be handed over to the appropriate authority.

Also speaking, Hon. Adjoto Kabiru said the impeached speaker is violently corrupt and is fond of embezzling government money just the way the red lipped squirrel searches for palm kernels even while it is eating one.

“As it is today, Edoror has a lot of EFCC cases hanging on his neck, you media men can go and verify this. We cannot afford to have a speaker that is been investigated by the EFCC because of his corrupt nature. As earlier mentioned by our new speaker, Edoror has a corrupt tendency, enough is enough, that is why members of the House today signed impeachment notice against him. As we speak today, both APC and PDP members in the House signed the impeachment notice against him”.

16 members signed the impeachment notice that circulated to journalists immediately after the house proceedings.

War against Christians will consume you, Ayodele, Suleiman warn El-Rufai

The Founder/General Overseer of the Omega Fire Ministry (OFM) Auchi, Apostle Johnson Suleman and Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Ejigbo, Lagos, have warned the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai to thread softly on the issue of religion or else will be consumed.

The duo made the admonition during a joint press briefing they addressed at the OFM headquarters last Sunday afternoon.

According to the duo Governor El-Rufai may be biting more than he can chew if he continues with his policies that all clerics must get government permission before preaching in any part of the state.

Apostle Suleman refuted insinuations in some quarters that he has a personal grudge against the governor. Rather, he said that his anger is directed towards the absurd policy thrust of the governor.

“What I did is in defence of Christianity. I don’t have any personal issues with the governor of Kaduna State. I have never met him and I don’t know him,” he said.

Primate Ayodele asserted that Governor El-Rufai by his tough stance on the issue of religion is fighting God.

“Can you fight God? You cannot fight God. God is different from human, God is different from any government. He is superior.”

On the issue of the ongoing nationwide war between Fulani herdsmen and farmers, Primate Ayodele cautioned that the issue should not be handled with kids’ gloves.
