Orji Uzor Kalu meets Emeka Kalu over Abia political impasse

Two foremost Abia State born politicians, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu and Engineer Emeka Kalu have met to discuss the future of the state. The meeting, which was held in Houston, Texas, in the United States on Sunday, 28th August 2016, is in connection with the current legal crises rocking the leadership of the state.

Although it was a closed door meeting, our sources confirmed that the two Kalus have in the past openly expressed concern about the destiny of Abia State, with so many litigations against the government of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.

Our source, who requested anonymity said; “the meeting is a result of discussions that have been ongoing about the future of the state. One is on how to bring the parties involved together, to a roundtable, and allow the current government focus to deliver the dividends of democracy to Ndi Abia. The other issue they are most likely to have discussed is on how the 2019 polls will be conducted to avoid too many controversies leading to litigations. You see, such litigations only distract the government and create unnecessary tension. Abia should move forward now”, the source said.

Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, chairman of Slok Group, and former governor of the state, was later sighted at the venue of the meeting sharing pleasantries with Chief Emeka Kalu, a guber aspirant in Abia too.

Emeka Kalu, chairman of Sterrcoll Engineering Limited, it will be recalled, had in an interview opted that all aggrieved parties hold a meeting with senior citizens of the state to discuss ways of solving the impasse.
