Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has stated that, in accordance with the law, buildings used by kidnappers to shelter their victims in the state will be pulled down. Oshiomhole, who spoke during the parade of kidnappers and scammers at the Department of State Security, DSS, Benin said that it was unfortunate that kidnappers are still on the prowl in the state, but promised that they all will be flushed out by security operatives in the state: “it is only a matter of time”, Oshiomhole emphasized.
Director of the Edo DSS, Mr Bello Bakore also thanked the state government for providing the needed support for them in order to accomplsih their goals.
According to an official of the DSS, two buildings would go-one at Osasogie Street, around ‘The Limit’ junction near Sapele Road, while another single storey building with four flats would go down. Governor Oshiomhole also revealed that the buildings would be knocked down before the week runs out.
Three kidnappers were paraded while two other men were held for scam and racketeering at the DSS office in Benin.
Sunday Ewhareime, a native of Ughelli in Delta State and was involved in the kidnap of a doctor, Imuwahen Nehikhare, a pastor, F Obaseki, three children of Audu Gani, namely seven year old Tanzila Audu Gani, twin to Tazil Audu Gani, and Zaid Audu Gani, (3)an exectuve assistant to the Edo State governor.
Joshua Igbinovia, aka Blackky, was also among the kidnappers. He was an accomplice to the Ewhareime, and also took part in the kidnap of the father-in-law to the Edo State deputy governor. He participated too in the kidnap of the chairman of Randekhi Hotel, Benin City.
Impemdor Ibrahim, a 23 year old man from Akoko Edo, another kidnapper, was also paraded.
Christian David, from Igueben. Although he was not one of those involved in the active capture of the crooks, he assisted in ensuring they do not escape. He was arrested in his house.
Umoru Jacob, annother kidnapper, was shot while trying to escape was a kingpin and leader of the gang. He organized all the kidnaps.
On his part, Michael Onyekachi, involved in fake visa racketeering was arrested in his bid to dupe one Orobor O Wisdom in Edo State, whom he took N1.5 million.
ThankGod Itepe, a final year student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. Before his arrest, he was alleged to have being involved in placing fake adverts on the internet posing as an agent of Dangote Cement Company, and make them pay a fee on the pretext of giving them jobs.
