The Centre for Church Music, Port Harcourt has announced her 2nd annual workshop on church music billed for September, later this year. According to a press release signed by the director of the Institute, Reverend Nkem Ofoelue, the event will feature prominent Christian musicians, instrumentalists, music lecturers, classicists as well as hymn makers from around the country.
Titled Church Music Workshop 2012, the event will hold at The Methodist Comprehensive High School, 1 Mbonu Ojike Street, Port Harcourt. The seven-day event will hold from 10 to 16th September, 2012.
According to the release, lectures will focus on rudiments of music, sight reading/singing, applied music study, principal instruments, keyboard and organ techniques. Other will include choral conducting, choir management, ensemble studies and worship.
The release enjoined musicians, musical societies, hymn makers and others who are interested in the event to register with the school for the event, stating that participants will learn what it means to worship God in spirit and in truth, have their worship lives reformed into what the Father really wants and be enabled to affect the worship life of their Church.
The workshop is expected to end in grand style, with a groundbreaking church/classical music concert on Sunday 16th September at Methodist Church Nigeria, same address at 4pm and feature the graduation of the first set of students passing out of the workshop participants. They also stand a chance to win scholarships to study church music at the Centre for Church Music, Port Harcourt.
The event is powered by Golden Hymns, a church music programme that features on Treasure FM, 98.5 FRCN, Port Harcourt every Sunday.
