The terror let loose in Igninedion University, Okada, Benin City on Sunday, took a new turn as two students were beheaded by some men believed to be ex-militants. In an early morning chaos in the university, some former militants stormed the school causing a free for all fight between rival gangs.
This has led to pandemonium in the school. It was reported that some policemen stationed at the school could not take control of the situations which degenerated as the groups cut people with cutlasses.
15 people were reportedly injured, while over 50 vehicles were damaged. The ex-militants had locked all exit gates to the university, after gaining entry, making it impossible for security operatives deployed to the school to intervene.
The tension in the campus had started two weeks ago, when four students of Medicine were abducted, and their families forced to pay huge ransome for their release.
