One of the persons whose profile was erroneously published on the cover of ThisDay on Tuesday, June 5, has expressed shock at the unprofessional manner in which the media handled the information. Thanking God for life on her Facebook wall, she had lambasted the paper for not making proper verifications before publication. She had also threatened to sue the paper. The message read thus:
Falmata Mohammed– With much gratitude to Allah (SAW ) for giving me life and good health. My sincere and unlimited appreciations and gratitude goes to all those who show concern in calling, BB and text messages to find out whether I am alive or one of the victims of the ill fated air crash, after THISDAYS publication of my picture on their front page of Tuesday 5th June 2012. I want to use this medium to kindly disregard the negligent publication on the front page of the said Newspaper wherein my picture was displayed as one of those that died in the Dana air mishap. While I commiserate with the families of those that lost their loved ones, I clearly state that the publication was misleading and a sheer display of professional negligence, incompetence and a breach of professional ethics by our journalist. Once again thank you all for the prayers and concern. JAZAKALLAHU KHAIRAN………………..SMILES.
